I'm Lexi=)I love music, my friends, and my family. My favorite bands are Mayday Parade, All Time Low, and Rise Against. I love going to concerts.I like when there is a calm, fun atmosphere and I hate stress. I Feel that I am an understanding person, and give pretty good advice. If you asked my friends, they would say that I am a fun person to be around, and love laughing. I love being loud and acting like an idiot, but in a good way.

The biggest influences in my life are my family and friends. I look up to my mom because she has shown a lot of strength. About six years ago, she had an addiction problem. She went to rehab and since then she has been clean. It makes me so proud that she is still clean and being a great mother to me and my two sisters. Her ability to overcome the addiction has shaped my career choice of being a drug councler at a rehab. My friends are also huge influences on me. They make me be a better person and there always there when I need them most.

Although I have been in Sociology for a semester I still feel that my first really explains me. I feel that I have learned a lot from Sociology and I examine myself in a new perspective. Being in this class has helped me realize more about culture, socialization, and social-class. Doing my community service has made me more aware of all the different social classes in a community and I feel much more fulfilled because I helped others. Realizing how the media shapes everyone I have realized the negative effects on growing teens. This class has helped me understand who I am today and I really enjoyed taking this class.

Crash

We watched the movie Crash in soc a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed the movie and thought it was very interesting. A lot of sterotyping they were doing is true to how people think today. In the movie the young black men were portrayed as gang member that steal and do bad things. A lot of people today think the same about young African Americans down town and other place. Also the white women was looked at as racist and scared of other races. For example, when a lock man was mexican, she made sure that she got a new lock the next day because she said that one of his homies was going to get a key and go into the house and seal stuff. Another example is when the mexican man told the arab man that he needed a new door and the Arab man didn't believe him, leaving to his store being broken into later, causing the Arab man to almost kill the Mexican mans family. I think that ts really sad that so many people have sterotypes about other people and I wish we could somehow break the feelings we have about others.
